deliberate patience
Darling,
Yesterday after work i went out with a friend to watch a documentary about the trial of Nelson Mandela. It was titled The State against Mandela. Afterwards we had dinner so by the time i was getting home it was quite late therefore i only got 5 hours of sleep. This morning waking up was such a hustle & twice i considered calling in sick at work. Well, i did not but at least i managed to squeeze in about 30 minutes of sleep during my commute.
Have you noticed that most conversations revolve around romantic relationships & more often than not it is rarely positive things. I feel like so many people are struggling because we have invested our feelings in people who do not know what they want or else people who do know what they want & it is not us but they stick with us because neither one of us wants to be alone. It is no wonder that so many people are lonely in a world of overwhelming human interaction. So many people have a mind that is full of elsewhere.
The Wait for me is about being more deliberate in who i share my space with & how much i share. I am an over-sharer & will set myself on fire to keep those i love warm. I will spend myself for them until nothing is left but bone. So yes, i need to learn boundaries. I also need to rely on my own counsel because i tend to trust some people's guts more than mine which is plain dumb. The Wait is simply me investing in myself emotionally because i have not done that.
Book Review: Yesterday i finished reading Oyinkan Braithwaite's My Sister, the Serial Killer. You know how we joke that so & so is the person you would call for help in case you killed someone, well, Korede is that person for her sister Ayoola. Not once but thrice though it does not look like she (Ayoola) is about change anytime soon. Men trip over her & are completely smitten with her until she sticks a knife in their backs, literally.I like that the background in Nigeria and that it is young & modern. It is a quick read too, 126 pages.
